About Us

Ecus has an exceptional opportunity for a highly experienced Associate Director of Ecology to lead our Sheffield ecology team.

We have been providing environmental consultancy services for 30 years and gained a reputation for technical excellence, staff development and a great working environment. Ecus is broadening the service offerings in each regional office to meet the needs of that region, whilst continuing to support our core ecology and EIA services to provide a platform for growth.

The company has grown significantly in recent years with over 60 employees located across five UK offices and further exciting growth plans for the business planned.

The Role

We are seeking an individual with substantial consultancy experience who is looking for a significant career move to an ambitious environmental consultancy.

You will be responsible for the management of the company’s largest ecology team and a wide range of projects, whilst helping develop our current portfolio of clients and projects.

A key member of the team, the appointed individual will work with the Regional Manager and the executive team to help drive the direction of the ecology work stream for the region.

The duties will include:

  • Management of regional ecology team
  • Provision of high level technical support to the business
  • Business development
  • Preparation of fee quotes and tenders
  • Managing ecology appraisals and EcIAs
  • Maintaining and developing client relationships
  • Leading protected species surveys and mitigation projects

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Track record of winning and delivering complex contracts
  • Over ten years professional consultancy experience
  • Protected Species Licence e.g. Class 2 bat licence or dormice
  • Experience of EcIA and HRA
  • Obtaining EPS licences
  • Preparing proof of evidence
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Relevant degree / postgraduate degree
  • Full membership of CIEEM
  • Full driving licence

Salary & Benefits

Offering £40,000 - £50, 000 (dependent on experience)
