Hours of Work: Full-time basis weekly hours being 45 hours per week, there is the requirement to fulfil weekend and public holiday work on a flexible team rota pattern; the postholder will also be required to participate in an on-call rota.

More recently, in response to client demands, the Company have constructed a number of product bundles from their full range of services, which are designed to overcome environmental challenges in specific markets and sectors.

The Company is seeking to appoint an Environmental Monitoring Technician to join their team servicing a major client in the Thames Valley and Greater London region.

Environment Monitoring Technician Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Environmental Project Manager
  • Undertaking field monitoring works including water quality measurements and sampling.
  • Technical report writing in response to water pollution incidents and provision of accurate and timely information to line management.
  • Supporting team performance by sharing knowledge and best practices at all levels.
  • Any other duties for which the post holder is qualified and able to carry out.
  • This list is not exhaustive and the postholder will be required to satisfy any other task for which they are qualified and experienced to undertake.

Environment Monitoring Technician Requirements:

  • As there will be the requirement to drive in the pursuance of Company business, a clean UK driving licence is essential for this role.
  • Applicants should possess a Degree in a Biological or Environmental Sciences discipline
  • Have an understanding of water chemistry and the indicative parameters
  • Experience of aquatic macro-invertebrate sampling and aquatic macro-invertebrate identification skills to Family level would be beneficial.
  • Applicants should possess experience in scientific fieldwork, and an enthusiasm for working outdoors in all weathers is essential; understanding of the role of regulators such as the Environment Agency and laboratory analysis in environmental monitoring, and environmental compliance will be an advantage.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills are essential as are excellent communication skills
  • Applicants should be motivated, friendly and confident when interacting with clients and consistently deliver excellent service whilst representing the Company in a positive manner.
