About the Company and opportunity

Aardvark employs a growing team of professionals with a diverse range of skills and experience and continually looking to expand this team to provide project support for single environmental planning issues through to complex project management particularly focused primarily on low carbon and renewable energy projects and waste management.

Candidates will have a working and technical knowledge of current planning and environmental issues, in particular regulation and legislation and the drive to apply this knowledge in an exciting young consultancy environment.

Candidates will have interests and experience in one or more of the following fields; renewable energy; waste management; preparation and submission of planning and environmental permitting applications; carbon auditing; environmental certification; sustainability assessment; and; environmental impact assessment.

Ideally, applicants will have a good relevant environmental science, geography or town planning degree, be able to demonstrate appropriate technical knowledge in their field, have excellent presentation and communication skills and the ability to work to deadlines and within budgetary constraints.  Candidates from a legal or engineering background are also of interest.


  • BSc/MSc in Town Planning, Real Estate, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering or similar.  Candidates with a Law degree are also of interest
  • Professional qualification (or working towards) – MRTPI, MRICS, CIWEM or similar.


  • Experience of working in a commercial environment for either a consultancy, regulator or contractor
  • Knowledge of conducting desk studies and undertaking site based work.

  • Assisting on the delivery of energy and waste environmental based development projects and risk assessment/management plans
  • Helping prepare and submit environmental permitting applications as well as the environmental supporting information
  • Helping prepare and submit planning applications as well as the environmental supporting information
  • Helping prepare and submit consultation responses to new legislation and regulation on behalf of clients
  • Providing input into a multi-disciplinary team
  • Liaising with external sub-contractors and specialist consultants
  • Taking on role of second point of contact for clients on projects
  • Helping produce technical reports and writing proposals.


Based in Somerset and working throughout the UK with some opportunities for working overseas.

Typical Projects:

Aardvark undertakes a wide variety of projects for public and private sector clients from private individuals to SMEs and PLCs.

Projects focus in particular but not exhaustively on energy (in particular STOR, solar PV, wind turbines, anaerobic digestion) and waste management (waste transfer stations, landfill, energy from waste, waste water) sector led projects.
