Job Title - Landfill Compliance Supervisor

Salary - £25,000 per annum + Veolia Benefits

Location - Ockendon Landfill, Medebridge Road, Gray, Essex, SS15 5DW

Hours - Monday to Friday, 7am - 4pm with 1 hour lunch break. Optional weekend work.

What you’ll do

As the Compliance Supervisor, you will provide legislative compliance, operational & developmental support to the Landfill Site Manager & other departments. You will also be required to develop a working knowledge of the weighbridge system and provide support to the administrative team.

In your role as Compliance Supervisor, you will be responsible for the recording of waste/soil sampling data and costs to enable accurate budgetary forecasting and management of P&L’s, undertaking accurate recording of samples taken on site and results received from the laboratory and act on results received to inform the relevant persons regarding failures or trends. You will also increase sampling and inspection frequencies in line with HMRC and Company procedures and continual monitoring of customer performance.

The Compliance Supervisor will manage KPI’s and monitor sample collections and analysis received, turnaround times, assist with compiling reports, entering and recording of information on several databases and ensure all reports are completed on time and uploaded on to the system.

You will be expected to liaise with the weighbridge staff to ensure correct data is being recorded, the correct number of vehicles are being sampled with photographic records being maintained. You will ensure that general administration tasks associated with the LOI management and health and safety are being carried out on site, and ensure records are maintained and QHSE Procedures, HMRC and HSE guidance are regularly updated and adhered to.

Where you’ll work

Your place of work will be both Pitsea and Ockendon Landfill. The landfills are based in Essex and require a diligent, conscientious individual to ensure that incoming loads are compliant with the permit requirements. The landfills are diverse environments which require caring and meticulous management of input materials and therefore require someone who is passionate about what they do.

The experience you will need

The successful candidate will have an A level or equivalent in Science, sufficient to cover the demands of the role. A good standard of English & Maths and strong knowledge of H&S is essential along with a solid understanding of/or experience in the collection of samples and sampling techniques. You will have the ability to manage your own workload, possess excellent administration organisational skills and have strong communication skills.

Previous operational experience gained in a similar industry or role is desirable but not essential for this role. You will have sound IT knowledge & the ability to use a range of Microsoft Office packages especially word and excel. Research, data analysis & accurate data entry with clear & concise reporting is also considered beneficial.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working outside in all types of weather and does require a full UK driving licence.
