We are seeking a Sustainability Project Officer to deliver a range of strategic sustainability projects, with a particular focus on energy and clean growth. You will also lead on sustainability for the city council’s major projects and other significant developments in Brighton & Hove, and incorporate sustainability issues through planning policy and development processes.

You will have significant experience of working in a sustainability environment, with knowledge of the energy sector and related policy, and planning policy and the development process. Whilst working effectively as part of a team, you are also able to work independently to provide technical advice and guidance on sustainability issues. You will ensure that sustainability is reflected properly in key plans and policies and achieved in new developments.

Using your project management experience you will develop and deliver sustainability projects, particularly around energy and clean growth, in partnership with local, regional, national and international partners. You will help develop the Greater Brighton energy plan, in collaboration with city region partners and The Living Coast Biosphere. You will also lead city council involvement in SOLARISE, an international energy project funded through the Interreg 2 Seas programme.

You will possess sound analytical skills along with excellent communication and ICT skills, experience in managing budgets and a successful track record in bidding for external funding.
