Do you want to be a part of a ground-breaking approach to saving species from extinction? Back from the Brink is a £6.6million National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) funded programme delivered by a partnership of England’s leading nature conservation organisations. We have built a team of enthusiastic and experienced people across the partnership leading innovative conservation work and inspiring the nation to discover, value and act for threatened species. A new opportunity has arisen to join this team on our Roots of Rockingham project in Northamptonshire, working on a range of species from bats and orchids to adders and butterflies.

As the Rockingham Forest Community Engagement Officer you will be employed by Butterfly Conservation on behalf of the Back from the Brink partnership. You will lead on the design and delivery of an exciting programme of activities to share the wild wonders of the Rockingham landscape with the local community and help our growing volunteer network take an active role in conservation. You will be an excellent communicator, with the ability to convey your enthusiasm for wildlife and understanding how to make technical natural history information accessible for all.

You will use your experience to deliver a programme of engaging events for a range of audiences, including schoolchildren, wildlife recorders and land management professionals. Through your work, we will involve the community in saving species by promoting habitat management at a landscape scale to provide a network of diverse, interconnected woodlands richer for wildlife and people.

Closing date for applications: noon on Wednesday 6 March 2018

Interviews will be held at Butterfly Conservation’s Head Offices in Dorset on Tuesday 19 March 2019
