Do you want to be part of a ground-breaking approach to saving species from extinction? Back from the Brink is a £6.6million National Lottery Heritage Fund supported programme delivered by a partnership of England’s leading nature conservation organisations. We have built a team of enthusiastic and experienced individuals across the partnership to undertake conservation work and inspire the nation to discover, value and act for threatened species. As part of this programme Plantlife are seeking an experienced Project Officer.

About the role:

Plantlife are seeking an experienced Project Officer to deliver the Cornish Path Moss project. The Cornish Path Moss (Ditrichum cornubicum) is currently found at two sites in the world, both disused copper mines near the village of Minions on the south-eastern edge of Bodmin Moor where it has been in a slow long-term decline. This project will undertake habitat management, survey, monitoring and an ecological assessment to learn more about this species and what can be done to benefit it. In addition, the project will undertake a programme of public awareness to increase both the public and stakeholder’s appreciation of the moss.

Based in Devon or Cornwall you will coordinate and undertake this species project. You will need to have a proven track record of delivering successful land management and/or species management projects, highly developed species and habitat conservation knowledge and skills and experience of working with volunteers. You will need to demonstrate your ability to run training events, be proactive and be able to communicate with a wide range of audiences.
