We are a small independent ecology consultancy based in Sussex and Hertfordshire. We’re passionate about what we do and pride ourselves on delivering an exceptional service to our diverse client base.

The role

We are seeking an ecologist to join our Sussex team on a permanent basis. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to assist with all areas of our work, including:

  • Undertaking and leading ecological surveys
  • Designing and implementing mitigation schemes
  • Project management
  • Production of ecological reports
  • Production of mapping using GIS software
  • Preparing fee proposals

Candidate specification

Essential:

  • A good degree in ecology or a closely related subject
  • A proven track record within an ecology consultancy
  • CIEEM membership
  • A good understanding of legislation, planning policy and processes
  • Experienced at undertaking phase 1 habitat surveys and a range of protected species surveys
  • Able to produce high quality reports
  • Able to develop professional relationships with clients
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence
  • Located within an hour’s drive of our Sussex office

Desirable:

  • Post-graduate degree in ecology or a closely related subject
  • Hold one or more protected species licenses (a level 2 bat survey licence would be advantageous)
  • Project management experience
  • Specialism in one or more species groups
  • Experience of preparing EPS mitigation licences
  • Knowledge of GIS
  • Valid CSCS card
