Are you looking to get some quality experience with Europe's largest conservation charity, engaging with young people and delivering environmental education?

Learning Assistant
Reference number: A5540119
Location: Southern West Sussex

Salary starting at: £16,504 - £17,880 per annum, pro rata
Hours: Part time, 18 hours per week
Contract: 1 April - 19 July

Do you fancy spending a few months working in a fantastic place, with fantastic people - seeing things you'd never normally see?

Together with a Learning Officer and volunteers, you will inspire school children across our Sussex nature reserves, primarily at Pulborough Brooks, but also at Pagham Harbour and Medmerry.

This is an opportunity to make a real difference enriching the lives of youngsters and inspiring them to care and learn more about the natural world. RSPB reserves are wonderful places for people and nature, providing a unique opportunity to lead curriculum-linked educational activities in a rich variety of habitats.

In addition to proven experience in a learning environment, you'll be a passionate communicator, able to enthuse groups of young people about nature. You'll need confidence and the ability to facilitate a day's programme in the field with a group of students and their teacher.

We have two roles to fill, both requiring a commitment of 18 hours a week (three weekdays, six hours each day). Contracts start 01/04/17 and end 19/07/2017. Some flexibility will be available to outstanding candidates, though a minimum of two weekdays will be required.

The RSPB is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to the appropriate safeguarding checks upon appointment.

Closing date: 24 February 2019
