Permanent – 35 Hours per week

The Role:

Zero Waste Scotland, Scotland’s resource efficiency and circular economy expert is looking for an experienced and highly motivated project manager to work within the Circular Economy team.

Working closely with and being led by the Programme Manager, this role will support a range of activities that are required to implement two new strategic programme of innovations for products and services within the healthcare public sector and the mattress industry and their related wider sectors and supply chains. The activities will include management of technical and/or research projects, engagement and management of contractors, financial administration and reporting and stakeholder engagement activities.

This role is focused on these areas of development, there are wider circular economy projects, which could become part of the portfolio. Therefore, we need a candidate that is adaptable, can respond to changing emphasis on their work and work well across teams at Zero Waste Scotland.

The Candidate:

To be successful in this role you will be educated to degree level or have experience in a relevant discipline or have the requisite specialist experience. You will have significant experience of a project management environment, with experience of working with a multiple and complex set of stakeholders. Anticipation of risks, application of a growth mindset and implementation of mitigating actions are required. Ideally you will have a broad knowledge of environmental issues in particular waste and recycling trends as well as an understanding of social marketing approaches to achieve behaviour change.

Applicants will be able to:

  • Plan their own workload across a range of projects to deliver tasks to agreed timescales and prescribed requirements
  • Manage contracts and relationships with project partners and suppliers, liaising with external stakeholders as required to deliver successful project outcomes
  • Identify opportunities to enhance delivery of Zero Waste Scotland’s objectives
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders, providing specialist advice where necessary
  • Ensure delivery commitments are met on time, within budget, and meet expectations and quality standards
