Slimbridge Wetland Centre is evolving and growing. We have a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to curate and breed our renowned collection of over 2,500 water birds, and lead a dedicated team of aviculturists.

To be successful you must clearly demonstrate leadership qualities and have previous evidence of developing animal care teams at a well-respected animal institution. You will be highly motivated, energetic and approachable and have a good knowledge of water bird management and their environmental requirements.

You will work closely with other departments to drive operational improvements across the site and achieve an amazing, surprising, inspiring and engaging visitor experience. The successful candidate will also support WWT’s visitor engagement strategy and specific centre objectives.

The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is a conservation charity that protects wetlands for wildlife and people. We conserve, restore and create wetlands. We are pioneers in saving wetland wildlife, both in the UK and around the world. At our 10 UK sites around a million visitors a year engage with wetland nature. We work internationally in key global wetland areas, balancing conservation with sustainable livelihoods and influencing national and international conservation policies.
