The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. We want to see a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. The Trust aims to engage and inspire people about woods and trees to help us meet our vision of creating, restoring and protecting woodland. We own and care for over 1,000 woodland sites across the United Kingdom and support the creation and management of woodland on others’ land.

As our Site Manager in North West Wales, you will represent the Woodland Trust locally, managing a diverse portfolio of sites on the Coed Cadw / Woodland Trust’s Estate in North West Wales to the highest professional standards and in accordance with the Woodland Trust’s management approach, policies and standard contracts.

You will be contributing to the Trust’s corporate objectives and aims as outlined in its Strategic Plan, and ensuring the safety of our visitors, contractors and volunteers.

As part of the role you will also lead creative woodland management, people engagement and conservation projects, advocating our work, engaging supporters and influencing others to act while working with a cross-departmental team of foresters, people engagement specialists, communications specialists and funders.

With previous experience in land-based management in the forestry or conservation sector, you’ll have a strong track record of project, budget and contract management, successful partnership working and Health and Safety management. Familiarity with FSC certification and a sound understanding of practical issues faced when managing woodlands is a must.

You will have excellent communication skills, be commercially aware and able to build effective partnerships. A full driving licence is a must have, along with the ability to undertake travel across a wide area, sometimes to remote locations. Occasional overnight stays will be required and you’ll be expected to live within a reasonable travel distance of the management area. Welsh language skills, both written and spoken, are essential.

There’s no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Whatever you do here you will be supporting our work to protect and enhance woods and trees. In return we recognise and value our people. You'll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development.
