We are currently looking for a Sustainability Advisor to join our hugely successful Sustainability team in Wiltshire. The successful candidate will become an important member of the team working to deliver and promote the company’s Sustainability Strategy. We are looking for a passionate and professional sustainability champion who will support the delivery of our environmental management system, working closely with our regional teams across the UK to offer specialist advice and training. The successful candidate will be a confident communicator, with a proven track record of finding creative solutions to sustainability issues, who will have a positive impact on the business. This role would ideally suit someone working at IEMA Practitioner level or equivalent.

What you know:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a related discipline
  • Membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. IEMA/CIWM)
  • Proven technical background in sustainability and environmental management
  • Working knowledge of a wide range of environmental legislation and best practice
  • Knowledge of a wide range of sustainability issues and how they relate to business, e.g. energy/carbon management, waste, transport, biodiversity, sustainable procurement, sustainable construction and social value
  • Working knowledge of certified Environmental Management Systems, for example ISO 14001
  • Working knowledge of conducting environmental and system audits
  • Working knowledge of creating and developing policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of providing advice relating to sustainability issues

  • Ability to understand and interpret contract requirements
  • Ability to understand customer requirements and propose realistic solutions
  • Ability to operate with commercial awareness both at strategic and advisory levels
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills
  • Collaborative worker with good negotiating and customer care skills; able to interact at all levels
  • Good level of computer literacy, including working knowledge of MS Office and excellent Excel skills
  • Data gathering, interpretation and analysis skills
