Photonic Universe Ltd is a well established supplier of solar power products based in Orpington, South-East London. We provide solar panels, solar electronic equipment, solar charging kits, solar lighting systems, off-grid household solar systems and other solar power solutions for various applications to UK and European customers. In addition to solar power, the company is now extending its business into the wind power sector and energy storage. We now have a full-time role Assistant Product Advisor which focuses on sales to our retail and trade clients. You will work alongside our experienced Product Advisors, support them in their day to day duties, help them offer the right solar power solutions to customers and facilitate completion of sales transactions.

We are looking for a candidate with prior distance sales experience such as phone, email, website or e-commerce sales or sales support. We also invite applications from proactive, ambitious candidates with or without sales experience, including graduates who have recently completed a degree from a UK university.

The role is based in our office in Orpington, South-East London (postcode BR5 3QB). Standard working hours 9am-6pm Mon-Fri.

Main responsibilities:

  • Advise customers on a range of solar power products via phone and email;
  • Follow up with existing leads, projects or quotations to close sales;
  • Create and issue invoices, arrange new orders and submit them for processing;
  • Deal with follow up customer requests via phone and email, such as delivery and tracking inquiries;
  • Conduct market research to help develop prospective market segments;
  • Establish, develop and maintain business relationships with new customers;
  • Maintain the database of new leads, existing customers and fulfilled orders.

Qualification and skills:

  • Previous distance selling (phone, email, website or e-commerce) experience is preferable and will be an advantage;
  • Proactive, positive and open-minded attitude, ability to engage with customers in a professional manner;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. English as a native language and good foreign language skills would be an advantage;
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook);
  • Ability to work independently and in a small team office environment;
  • Enthusiasm to learn about new technologies;
  • Good numeracy skills.


Attractive compensation package (fixed annual salary of £18,000 - £22,000 plus a commission from sales), fully paid annual holiday 28 days, sick pay allowance, pension, fast career progression and other benefits will be offered to a successful candidate.
