More recently, in response to client demands, the Company have constructed a number of product bundles from their full range of services, which are designed to overcome environmental challenges in specific markets and sectors.

The Company are seeking to appoint two Environmental Monitoring Technicians to join their team servicing a major client in the South West area. Please note this is on a fixed term basis expected to end April 2019

Reporting to the Project Manager - Environmental Monitoring Project Manager, the postholders will be required to attend and investigate water pollution incidents; undertake field-based monitoring and collect environmental samples for laboratory analysis across the region.

Environmental Monitoring Technician Responsibilities:

  • Attending and investigating water pollution incidents throughout Cornwall and Devon
  • Undertaking field monitoring works including water quality measurements and sampling, follow OHES-South West Water procedure documents, including but not limited to: OHES-EMON-SWW001 - Incident Instruction Procedure / OHES-EMON-SWW002 - Incident Response Procedure / OHES-EMON-SWW004 - Water Quality Sampling Procedure.
  • Technical report writing in response to water pollution incidents, time limited in accordance with client requirements.
  • Provision of accurate and timely information to line management.
  • Supporting team performance by sharing knowledge and best practices at all levels.

This list is not exhaustive and the postholders will be required to satisfy any other task for which they are qualified and experienced to undertake.

Environmental Monitoring Technician Requirements:

  • Applicants should also possess a full clean UK driving licence.
  • Applicants should possess a Degree in a Biological or Environmental Sciences discipline
  • Have an understanding of water chemistry and the indicative parameters and experience of aquatic macro-invertebrate sampling and aquatic macro-invertebrate identification skills to Family level.
  • Applicants should possess experience in scientific fieldwork, and an enthusiasm for working outdoors in all weathers is essential; understanding of the role of regulators such as the Environment Agency and laboratory analysis in environmental monitoring, and environmental compliance will be an advantage.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills are essential as are excellent communication skills.
  • Be a competent user of Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Word.
  • Applicants should be motivated, friendly and confident when interacting with clients and consistently deliver excellent service whilst representing the Company in a positive manner.

Environmental Monitoring Technician:

  • 25 days per annum + Bank Holidays
  • Company Vehicle
