ORCA are now recruiting for 2 confident, enthusiastic and customer-service driven Wildlife Officers, with experience of lone working in remote locations, to join our at-sea team for the summer season in 2019, working and living on board the DFDS KING Seaways vessel, sailing from North Shields (Newcastle, UK) to Ijmuiden (The Netherlands).

The main responsibilities are running the on-board 'ORCA Wildlife Lounge', delivering daily presentations and children’s activities, deck watching with passengers, collecting scientific data on wildlife sighted and inspiring and educating all passengers on board about North Sea wildlife.  The Wildlife Officers will also manage volunteer Wildlife Officer Placements, who are on board for 4-weeks at a time.

The successful applicants must have the passion to enthuse others and have experience of delivering excellent customer service.  They must also have experience of lone working in remote locations.  We are ideally looking for a Wildlife Officer that can speak English, Dutch and German fluently, due to the passenger demographic on board.

The Wildlife Officers will work on board the DFDS passenger ferry on a 2 week on, 2 week off rota. This role requires Wildlife Officers to work alone on board from March to June and in September, and to work with, and train, volunteer Wildlife Officer Placements from mid-June to Mid-September.

Please read the job description on the ORCA website carefully before applying.

To apply, please complete the application form and send, along with your C.V. to: info@orcaweb.org.uk with the subject ‘North Sea Wildlife Officer Application’.

The closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 13th January 2019, with interviews being held in Portsmouth on the 31st January 2019.
