This role is required to work with vulnerable groups including children and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

Please be advised that this is a fixed term contract due to end when the previous employee returns from maternity leave. At this point, we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but please be advised that the maximum duration for a maternity cover contract is 12 months.

What you'll be doing

As our Learning Officer, you’ll run our successful school visiting programme, which largely focuses on science and geography and will help to deliver an enjoyable and stimulating experience for the students who visit. You’ll also be a key member of our property team, helping with the development of our daily programme offer for all of our visitors. You’ll help to maximise learning opportunities; promoting Wicken Fen as a learning resource through the development of partnerships, and delivery of events and learning programmes. Leading a team of volunteers and seasonal staff, you’ll help to ensure Wicken Fen’s spirit of place and the Trust’s ambition to connect people with nature is met through our learning programmes.

Please be advised in this role you’ll be part of our Duty Manager rota.

Who we're looking for

To be successful in this role you’ll need to have;

  • Previous experience of delivering curriculum-linked sessions in a formal learning environment with students and/or children
  • Applied knowledge of the education sector and national curriculum
  • Previous experience of leading and working alongside a team of staff and volunteers
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Great IT skills
  • Fantastic customer service skills
  • Evidence of high education in education or a relevant subject, or have suitable experience in a related field
