Active Travel Officer (Ref: SUS2540)

£24,204 pro rata per annum

22.5 hours per week – contract to 31 March 2019

Based in Taunton 

This exciting role will be responsible for developing, leading and supporting the delivery of activities promoting walking, cycling and the use of public transport across a range of settings including schools, colleges, workplaces and communities. Through events and initiatives you will raise the profile of active and sustainable travel and help to reduce the level of congestion impacted by the new housing development at Killams. This project is funded through Section 106 developer contributions.

With a good standard of education, you will have experience of delivering behaviour change projects with schools, workplaces or communities and experience of working with children and young people. You will also have experience of organising and delivering events and of building and maintaining productive working relationships. Your excellent written and verbal communications skills will enhance your ability to engage with local community groups, promote events and to motivate and enthuse others. You will have knowledge and understanding of the health benefits of active travel and be committed to the promotion of sustainable transport. Ideally you will be able to start as soon as possible on the project.
