Community Windpower is at the forefront of wind energy development in the UK with over 1.9GW built, under construction and in development. As renewable energy specialists, we are fully experienced in the identification, design, development, construction and operation of onshore wind energy projects.

We are looking to recruit a candidate who has good knowledge of civil engineering and over 2 years’ experience of working in a civils or construction position previously and are searching for a career within the renewables sector, specifically onshore wind energy, to join our internal Construction & Civil Engineering Team.

Candidates should have engineering qualifications/degree and experience of AutoCAD, vehicle tracking software, swept path analysis, GIS, geotechnical and topographical surveys. Applicants who have experience of working on onshore wind farms would be desirable.

Our projects are located in the UK, therefore a valid and clean driving licence is essential to travel to these locations to attend meetings, undertake assessments and carry out site visits.

The position is full time and is based at our Head Office in Frodsham, Cheshire.

Key skills and requirements:

  • Experienced project assistant (minimum 2 years) with a civil engineering background;
  • Experienced user of Auto CAD and vehicle tracking software as the role will involve assessing potential access routes to wind farms, along with the production of access feasibility studies, swept path analysis and transport impact assessments;
  • Preparing and managing minor civil contracts thus previous knowledge of experience of this would be desirable;
  • Completing and analysing topographical digital surveys and to produce onsite access track designs;
  • Provide technical input into engineering solutions including foundations, crane hardstands, drainage systems and culverts, excavation and earth works, access roads and public highway works;
  • Liaising with Local Authorities, Highways Agencies and other key stakeholders;
  • Well-developed problem solving skills and hands on approach to design management;
  • An ability to interface easily with office and site staff, we are looking for someone with excellent communication skills;
  • Excellent IT skills;
  • Support construction activities for all projects as required.
