We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated communications and PR expert for the Orkney Native Wildlife Project. You will be responsible for maintaining and delivering the project communications plan, and leading on all media and communications-related activities including, but not limited to, the project website, press releases, blogs, newsletters, articles, leaflets, posters, videos, social media etc.

Contract: 5 years

You must be a confident and creative communicator (spoken and written), able to formulate clear and concise stories for a range of audiences and using a variety of channels. You must have experience in dealing with the media ideally both at a national and local level along with the skills to be a spokesperson for the project if required. You must have demonstrable experience of dealing with potentially controversial issues and reputational risk including producing reactive statements and FAQs, as well as inspiring confidence in colleagues in your leadership in this area. You will ideally have experience of working with partners and stakeholders to deliver co-ordinated and consistent messaging.  

This role will also manage and oversee the team delivering all people engagement aspects of the project -the ONWP Community Engagement, Monitoring and Education Officers - and have overall responsibility for delivery of their work areas which is designed to gain and maintain high levels of community support and participation in the delivery of the project. You will have the confidence and ability to inspire trust and support for the project and an ability to win over hearts and minds. You will have experience of working with local communities in a collaborative and sensitive way.
