Mindfully Wired Communications (MWC) is a small, dynamic and creative communications consultancy working on marine environment projects, predominantly in the area of sustainable fishing.

We are now seeking a new addition to the team – currently made up of three staff and a network of brilliant, trusted contractors – to work on a range of projects across 2019. As with any small business, the right person for the job will be flexible, dynamic and driven. MWC delivers creativity and professionalism across all of our projects, and we hold ourselves to the highest standards whether it’s writing a tweet, delivering a documentary film series, or planning an international conference.

In return for hard work and excellent organisation, the successful candidate can expect to work in an incredibly friendly, fast-paced work environment, and learn a wealth of new skills on the job. The role will likely involve travel within the UK and further afield, as MWC works internationally, and has supported clients in the US, Asia and across Europe.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of a series of projects which will include work on fisheries policy, including within Westminster, as well as creative communications and marketing for a range of organisations. You will also need to contribute to projects being handled by other members of the team, and help us shape business development across 2019.

In this role, you will liaise directly with researchers, environmentalists, politicians and fishermen at the quayside. You will need to be able to adapt to your environment and be an open, friendly individual able to hold conversations with all the varied stakeholders we work with.

There will likely be some line-management duties for MWC interns across the course of the year.

Things you need to know:

We base ourselves in a vibrant shared work space in central Bristol, near Temple Meads station. However, due to the nature of our business, we also work flexibly – from home, from London and whilst travelling. We can help equip you to work remotely, but this should be taken into account when applying for the role as we will rely on the successful candidate to be structured in the delivery of their work, despite the fact we don’t always work in a traditional 9-5pm office environment.

Must-haves:

  • Degree-level qualification;
  • Proven track record in leading on communications projects (of any scale), specifically using digital media, media, marketing or internal communications;
  • Experience using social media in a professional context;
  • Outstanding written skills: creativity, grammar and spelling;
  • A keen visual eye: the ability to assess and comment on a range of visual materials, as well as create such materials (with sufficient training, if needed);
  • Demonstrable ability to work with a range of people/groups/organisations and form meaningful professional relationships;
  • Demonstrable interest in the environment, the marine environment and environmental policies;
  • Determination, drive and excellent organisational skills, including the ability to juggle a diverse workload and consistently deliver to deadline.

Desirables:

  • Website development and management skills - SquareSpace and Wordpress;
  • Experience with event coordination;
  • Graphic design skills;
  • Experience working with the media;
  • Confident in presenting to large groups.
