About Community Action Group (CAG) Devon Project

The Community Action Groups (CAG) Project in Devon, is managed by Resource Futures and currently funded by Devon County Council until the end of March 2020. CAG Devon community project was initiated in 2016 to support local communities to respond to key sustainability issues around waste reduction– building upon Resource Futures exemplar community engagement model of CAG Oxfordshire - which has received many awards and accolades within the county and wider across the UK. You will work with the Project Coordinator to support the Community Action Group (CAG) Project in Devon. This will involve supporting and developing the activities of established community groups, as well as supporting the development of new Community Action Groups, around waste issues.

Nature and scope

With guidance and direction from the CAG Devon Coordinator, your role will include:

  • Supporting and developing the activities of the community groups and volunteers
  • Attending project events and planning meetings (including evenings and weekends)
  • Disseminating information on relevant issues to the community groups and volunteers
  • Responding to enquiries about the CAG Devon Project
  • Ensuring network events are monitored effectively, attending where appropriate
  • Assisting network members with effective publicity for their events
  • Working with the Devon Community Engagement Co-ordinator on organising visits, training events and whole network events, taking responsibility for some of the organisation/events
  • Implementing project plans for events and training, in consultation with the Devon Community Engagement Co-ordinator
  • Developing exciting ways of engaging new and existing groups and champions
  • Working with third-party web support to ensure that the website is always up to date and working
  • Assisting in producing a regular newsletter or equivalent, encompassing news, events, funding, etc.
  • Maintaining media file to keep track of network activities
  • Supporting the CAG Devon Co-ordinator to keep the network social media presence up to date, attending network members’ meetings, public meetings and any other relevant events as appropriate.
