Paid • Full Time • Fixed Term Contract

Sectors: conservation & wildlife, ecology

Closing date: Monday, 19th November 2018   5 days left

This multi-award winning community conservation charity (most recently, The CIEEM NGO Impact Award 2018), established in 2002, is looking to recruit a dynamic individual to direct, develop and implement its work and spearhead its continuing growth. We are looking for a Conservation Manager who is self-motivated and will help drive the charity forward, working with our volunteers, contractors, and the Board of Trustees. The post holder will report directly to the chair of the Trustees.

The charity, based on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, has 72 hectares of land in conservation management, including SAC valley fens and County Wildlife Sites. LOHP was run entirely by volunteers until 2017. This advertisement is for a full-time contract, building on the work of our first employee who was appointed to a temporary, part-time post. The post-holder will be home-based, as the charity has no office facilities, but will spend a significant amount of their time operating within the project area.

We are looking for someone with a degree or equivalent in an environmental subject and experience of conservation land management, especially wetlands. Experience of implementing countryside stewardship schemes would be advantageous, as would experience of ecological monitoring. You will also need excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to represent us at meetings, manage contractors, work with volunteers, and liaise with local landowners and the general public.

This is a full-time, 3-year post, five days per week for a salary of £27,000 p.a. Some evening and weekend working will be required.
