The British Hydropower Association [BHA] is the only professional trade membership organisation solely representing the interests of the UK hydropower industry and its associated stakeholders at local, regional, national levels and overseas.

The BHA represents around 250 members, which includes a diverse range of businesses, including generators, commercial organisations, academia, charities, community groups and anyone involved in, or with an interest in hydropower.

We now want to appoint a Development Officer to support the Chief Executive Officer with the future development of and management of the association with a specific focus on Scotland, where the postholder will be based.

The Development Officer will develop a close relationship with existing members and will actively assist with the recruitment of new members.

The Development Officer will further develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including Scottish Government, planners, NGOs, regulators and other renewable energy trade associations.

Therefore the successful candidate will have:

  • A sound knowledge and understanding of the current issues affecting renewables (in particular hydropower) in Scotland and elsewhere.
  • An operational background in hydropower would be ideal, but is not essential.
  • Excellent and current contacts within the Scottish hydropower renewables sector in particular, are essential.
  • A sound working knowledge of WordPress and an understanding of eTouches will be very advantageous.

There is a flexible package for the most suitable candidate with a salary range up to £30k.

Further information and an application can be downloaded from the BHA website www.british-hydro.org or alternatively contact: simon.hamlyn@british-hydro.org or call him on 07788 278422

The date for receipt of completed application forms is Friday the 30th of November.
