We are currently seeking to recruit an Ecologist to supplement our in-house team in Penarth, near Cardiff.

Soltys Brewster Ecology

Soltys Brewster Ecology is a progressive, independent ecological consultancy operating throughout South Wales, the UK and Ireland. Working in close collaboration with Soltys Brewster Consulting Ltd, we provide ecological and landscape assessment services on a wide range of commercial, residential and infrastructure projects ranging in scale from single building conversions to major brownfield redevelopment.

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed graduate from a relevant discipline, who has already gained a minimum of 6 months ecological consultancy experience in the UK through fixed term or seasonal survey work.

For this position, experience of protected species survey work (including bats & reptiles) along with practical application of standard Phase I Habitat survey techniques is essential. The successful candidate will have a clear understanding of domestic wildlife legislation and be able to effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing) with a potentially wide and varied target audience. A protected species licence would also be beneficial.

The post involves both office and field work, generally in the South Wales area but with the possibility of working throughout the UK or Ireland dependent on project requirements. You will therefore need to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.

This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity for career development as part of our close-knit, hard working team within a multi-disciplinary environment and the successful candidate is likely to experience a wide range of projects including input to EIAs and a range of protected species survey and mitigation strategy development.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and will benefit from a tailored training package linked to experience and qualifications. We also offer employee matched contributions to our staff pension scheme.
