Richards, Moorehead and Laing Ltd, a multi-disciplinary practice established in 1984 has a wide portfolio of work in infrastructure projects, renewable energy projects and residential and leisure development. Our team is composed of Civil Engineers, Landscape Architects and Managers, Town Planners, Environmental Practitioners, Archaeologists and Ecologists.

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Clerk of Works to be working as part of a multi-disciplined team working under our Senior Environmental Manager on a client site.  The role will be full time, based on site and the candidate will:

  • Fulfil the role of Environmental Clerk of Works and provide assurance and ensure compliance with the relevant Technical Standards
  • Assist with production and review of methods statements and risk assessments
  • Collate subcontractor information from site to assist Senior Environmental Manager with monthly Environment SSHEQ reporting
  • Undertake daily Site inspections with the construction teams to monitor compliance with the environmental licences/consents for the works and environmental plans and procedures; implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with UK regulations and legislation;
  • Monitor compliance with the Construction Code of Practice
  • Briefing out the requirements of the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and Environmental Minimum Requirements
  • Review and input into project work package plans and task briefings where required
  • Record and report all incidents and instigate any corrective actions required
  • Attend client and subcontractor meetings

The following qualities/experience are essential:

  • Degree qualified, (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, e.g. Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Impact Assessment.
  • Member of an environmental professional body
  • A sound understanding of environmental management and mitigation on major infrastructure projects
  • Understanding of the benefits of working collaboratively to obtain the best outcome for the project
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Determination to see tasks through to completion, with excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Must hold a Full UK Driving Licence

The candidate is required to have some knowledge of construction methods, trades, plant, equipment, and practices, and, in particular the environmental impact associated with each.

Welsh language skills would be advantageous but not essential.
