THE TRUST

The Sussex Wildlife Trust is a conservation charity for everyone who cares about nature in Sussex. We focus on protecting the wonderfully rich natural life that is found across our towns, countryside and coast. By working alongside local people we create opportunities for us all to connect with nature and for nature to thrive in even the most unlikely places. Together we can make sure that future generations living in Sussex will be able to enjoy the sense of wonder and well-being that nature offers.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Director of Land Management to ensure that all aims of the Trust are clearly defined, strategically promoted and implemented across all delivery departments of the Trust. The role will ensure the wider aims of the Trust, including delivering an ecological network, inspiring people about nature and developing the Trust as an organisation, are delivered through our land management activities.

THE PERSON

You will be a key member of the senior management team at the Trust, helping to shape and deliver our strategy and direction, supported by a team of 14 ecology and practical nature conservation professionals.

The successful candidate will have detailed ecological knowledge and its application in land management; as well as experience of statutory requirements relating to land management – in particular wildlife conservation and its funding mechanisms.

You will, maintain Sussex Wildlife Trust nature reserves in favourable condition; achieve land management objectives within agreed budgetary limitations; and deliver wider strategic objectives for the Trust through land management.

THE BENEFITS

Based at Southerham near Lewes, this role offers flexible working, 24 days annual leave, access to an Employee Assistance Scheme and the opportunity to help the Sussex Wildlife Trust make a real difference to local wildlife.

Interview Date: 15th October 2018
