We're looking for a Senior Development Officer to join our team and help grow our income and develop the work of Gwent Wildlife Trust (GWT) within the context of a new 5-year Conservation Strategy and Funding Plan.

We're the leading conservation charity in Gwent and part of a movement of 5 Wildlife Trusts in Wales and 46 Wildlife Trusts across the UK. Our vision is of people close to nature in a landscape rich in wildlife and our work focusses on managing land for wildlife, protecting species, engaging people in wildlife education, training and learning about nature, promoting health and wellbeing through contact with nature and wider environment work.

The Senior Development Officer will be building on a strong foundation, taking a leading role in grant and major donor fundraising for Gwent Wildlife Trust – maintaining existing relationships and identifying and developing new opportunities. Your experience in grant fundraising and ability to develop winning fundraising bids will enable you to help GWT continue to increase and diversify our income from these voluntary sources within a changing funding and policy environment. You will be working closely across the organisation, taking responsibility for supporting and upskilling other staff in writing high quality funding applications for an innovative and dynamic range of conservation and ‘people and wildlife’ projects and working alongside the CEO, be the main contact for major funders in Wales. With excellent project management, budgeting and reporting skills you will be responsible for ensuring best practice at all times, including use of Full Cost Recovery in budgets and for maintaining good standards of monitoring and evaluation of funded Projects.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record in major voluntary fundraising, be passionate about conservation and excel at developing effective working relationships with a wide range of people.
