Carbon Positive Advisor

  • Contract type: Fixed term appointment until 30th May 2019

Job Purpose:

  • Develop and coordinate the Action Plan to deliver the Carbon Positive Enabling Plan. The Enabling Plan sets out NRW's strategic ambition for decarbonisation. The Action Plan will set out the actions that NRW will take to mitigate its greenhouse gas emissions, focussed on its buildings, transport, land and operational assets, and procurement.
  • Provide technical advice on decarbonisation to support the development and delivery of the Enabling Plan and it’s supporting Action Plan.
  • Work with others across NRW to ensure the actions to deliver the Enabling Plan are embedded into relevant teams work programmes and business plans.
  • Support the sharing of experience of delivering decarbonisation with external organisations as part of the Carbon Positive Project’s programme of communications and engagement work.
  • Provide guidance and specialist advice as required to NRW staff, WG, public sector bodies and Public Service Board (PSB) representatives to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration on decarbonisation.

Job Specific Criteria:

1) Experience of developing and coordinating clear and accessible strategic action plans and associated written materials, e.g. delivery plans, briefings (essential), preferably plans for organisational decarbonisation.

2) Knowledge and experience of decarbonisation measures and climate change mitigation (essential).

3) Ability to distil/communicate technical information (written and verbally) in a clear and accessible way for a variety of audiences (e.g. sharing knowledge and experience with public sector bodies (essential), preferably relating to decarbonisation or similar technical subject.

4) Ability to evaluate and assess the practicality and feasibility of mitigation actions across multiple work areas to support prioritisation of actions for delivery (essential).

5) Experience of coordinating multiple projects (essential).

6) Experience of building relationships with staff across an organisation to plan and embed new ways of working and ability to work with and influence others (essential), preferably related to decarbonisation.
