 Field Ecologist / Surveyor (several roles available)

Due to the ongoing success and expansion of the business, Aspect Ecology has a number of exciting opportunities for recently graduated / post graduate candidates to start their career in ecological consultancy, by joining our industry leading team of specialists and working on our exciting range of challenging and interesting projects. Previous experience of conducting surveys for protected species is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.

About Aspect Ecology

At Aspect Ecology, we specialise in providing ecological consultancy services to a well-established base of high profile clients in both the public and private sectors. Our Oxfordshire based team has a wealth of experience and expertise advising on an extensive range of projects nationwide with a focus on integrating ecological habitats and wildlife benefits within new developments. We are a professional and friendly team of enthusiastic ecologists who thrive on innovation and delivering a high quality output to our clients – see our website for more www.aspect-ecology.com.

About the Role

You would be a Field Ecologist, working under the direction of the Field Work Co-ordination and Ecology team, undertaking a range of field surveys for faunal species with a focus on bats, but with potential to work with other protected species. Much of our current survey work is located in Kent so a base in that area would be particularly useful, whilst we would also be pleased to hear from applicants close to our office in Banbury.

You will be required to work up to five days per week, with opportunities for weekend work as well.

About You

As an important member of the team, the following skills, experience, and attitude are considered essential to the role:

  • A flexible and enthusiastic approach;
  • Willingness to work ‘ecological hours’ and travel;
  • Confidence to work with reptiles and amphibians (training provided);
  • A broad understanding of UK wildlife legislation and a keen interest in Natural History;
  • Full driving licence and own car, insured for business use.

Wages are paid at an hourly rate (commensurate with your experience). B&B / hotel accommodation will be provided, where required, and all business mileage / subsistence will be reimbursed on a monthly basis.

To apply, please send your CV and covering letter, explaining why you feel this opportunity is right for you, to recruitment@aspect-ecology.com

If your application is successful we will contact you by email or telephone to discuss the next steps and, where appropriate, arrange an interview.
