Sustrans is the charity making it easier for people to walk and cycle, by connecting people and places, creating liveable neighbourhoods, transforming the school run and delivering a happier, healthier commute and we are seeking to fill the following key vacancy:

Engagement Officer

Kent Community Rail Partnership

£24,204 pro rata per annum

22.5 hours per week

– contract to 31 December 2018 - based Maidstone

The responsibilities of this exciting role will be to maintain and develop strong partnerships with schools, workplaces, communities and local stakeholders, working with Kent Community Rail Partnership (Kent CRP) to promote two local rail lines and deliver passenger growth and improvements to rail services and station environments, with the aim of taking the railway out into the community, engaging new users and helping them choose rail and active travel for more journeys. 

With a good standard of education, you will have experience of working directly with children and young people and of partnership working within a community-based or environmental project. You will have experience of leading engagement activities, organising group activities and of publicising and running events. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills, the ability to motivate and enthuse others and the ability to plan and prioritise your own workload are essential, as is IT literacy. You will also have an understanding of the transport issues facing local communities in Kent and Medway be committed to the promotion of sustainable transport. DBS Enhanced Disclosure clearance is mandatory for this role.
