The community-led SHRUB Co-op invites applications for Food Sharing Project Coordinator of our award-winning carbon reduction project - set in the heart of Scotland’s capital. This is one of four main posts: Project Coordinator, Circular Economy Coordinator, Food Sharing Hub Coordinator and Communications Coordinator.

The team will work alongside the Climate Challenge Fund funded project staff running to end of March 2020 and are challenged with transforming the habits of the community to reduce local and global carbon emissions and re-skill people with capacity to repair and upcycle.

The main purpose of the Food Sharing Project Coordinator post is:

  • To coordinate the delivery of the Food Sharing Edinburgh project, supporting development of the service so that all volunteers contribute to a community-wide Zero Food Waste effort.
  • To coordinate the delivery of Sustainable Cooking Workshops, food waste prevention research, collection and re-distribution from small businesses and the core project administration. To lead on Food Sharing Edinburgh partnership work and jointly coordinate the delivery of food waste education in schools.
  • To recruit volunteers, providing induction and support using agreed systems to build the Food Sharing community whilst working coherently to progress the project goals.
  • To plan project delivery, manage project budget and monitor and evaluate project activities in conjunction with the Zero Waste Edinburgh Project Coordinator.
  • To develop key partnership to ensure the Food Sharing Edinburgh project maintains good working relationships.

Successful applicants must have experience and skills in the following areas:

  • Project development and management experience in the Environmental/ Social sector
  • Can demonstrate capacity for good leadership including an ability to identify and mitigate conflicts before they arise
  • Has experience facilitating teams of volunteers - can demonstrate ability to delegate, train, support and empower
  • Able to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders to solve problems and deliver complex projects
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills for a fast-paced working environment
  • Able to work on own initiative and organise own time / workload
  • Educated to HNC / HND, plus 2 year’s relevant work experience - or equivalent
  • Full proficiency with Microsoft Office e.g. Excel and familiar with Google Accounts
