Thameswey is a leading energy and environmental services company wholly owned by Woking Borough Council. We are recruiting an enthusiastic project manager with the drive and ambition to deliver a wide range of environmental and sustainability-focused projects.  Along with a track record in working on multi-agency projects, the successful candidate will have relevant experience in the energy or environmental sectors and the enthusiasm to develop new initiatives, from concept through to successful project closure. Good networking skills will be essential in forging links with delivery partners, along with the personal qualities to lead a small Sustainable Projects team.

The Role

The Environmental Projects Manager is responsible for the planning, co-ordination and overall delivery of environmental initiatives managed by Thameswey Sustainable Communities Ltd.

The scope of projects includes: initiatives within the Action Surrey energy efficiency advice programme; supporting the environmental objectives of Thameswey group companies; assisting in the delivery of Woking Borough Council’s climate change and sustainability strategy; and other environmental initiatives proposed by local authorities and partnerships (such as LEPs). Together these comprise a wide range of initiatives targeted at assisting residential and business communities in Woking, the county and potentially beyond Surrey in reducing their environmental impacts.  

The role includes the planning, design and delivery of projects spanning carbon reduction, sustainable transport, urban biodiversity and sustainable energy, targeting households, businesses and community organisations throughout Woking and across Surrey. The post includes  responsibility for the development of new projects through the preparation of funding bids and project proposals,and co-ordinating the environmental reporting for the Thameswey group of companies.

The Person

Educated to degree level, with at least two years of relevant experience, the post holder will have a proven track record in working on successful multi-partner projects.  Good numeracy and IT skills, and excellent presentation skills are required, along with the enthusiasm and persuasion to motivate others and build collaborative relationships. A clear and analytical approach to report writing and experience in bid writing will also be an advantage.

Remuneration and benefits

  • A salary of up to £32,000, along with employer's pension contribution of up to 6% of pensionable salary
