Business and Nature Partnerships Manager

  • Location: Cambridge, UK
  • Full time: 35 hours per week
  • Contract: Two year fixed-term contract
  • Salary: circa £35,000 pro rata per annum (dependent on skills and experience), plus competitive 12% pension benefit
  • Annual Leave: 25 days pro rata per annum in year 1, increasing by 1 day pa to 28 days

We are recruiting for a Business and Nature Partnerships Manager to be based at our global headquarters in Cambridge, UK. The primary responsibility will be to undertake a wide range of duties associated with the development and implementation of BirdLife International’s strategic partnership with the global cement and aggregates company CEMEX.

Duties include supporting CEMEX achieve its 2020 target of Biodiversity Action Plans for priority quarries around the world, supporting staff capacity building and assisting with the development of a range of tools to enhance biodiversity management by the company. The Partnerships Manager will facilitate and support collaborative partnerships between BirdLife Partners and CEMEX operations in-country, encompassing biodiversity awareness-raising and conservation delivery.

As a core staff member within BirdLife's Business and Nature team, the position will also contribute towards the development of BirdLife’s business and nature agenda including the brokering and developing of new global business and biodiversity relationships and partnerships with organisations of value to fulfil BirdLife’s mission and global programmes.

BirdLife is seeking a person with a passion to advance strategic NGO-corporate partnerships and an enthusiasm to bring about practical conservation outcomes. They should have a track record of engagement with or involvement in the private sector, in developing and managing conservation work and the development of capacity in the private sector and civil society. Ideally, we are seeking someone who has experience of the extractives sector and is able to work comfortably in both English and Spanish.
