ABOUT US

The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. We want to see a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. The Trust aims to engage and inspire people about woods and trees to help us meet our vision of creating, restoring and protecting woodland. We own and care for over 1,000 woodland sites across the United Kingdom and support the creation and management of woodland on others’ land.

THE ROLE

Campaigning operates as the window to the Woodland Trust’s Conservation and External Affairs work, uniting and enabling supporters to make a real difference for the UK’s woods and trees. The purpose of this role is to support our work to influence decision makers and policy at a local and national government level using people power, delivering our ambitions for ancient woodland protection and restoration and new woodland creation. The role is key to developing the Charter for Trees, Woods and People, working with a small a network of dedicated campaigners to help build a future where people and trees are stronger together.

THE CANDIDATE

You’ll be responding to the public on behalf of major campaigns and will need experience handling public enquiries in a fast paced environment. Along with a genuine interest in the environment you’ll have knowledge of current public campaigning styles and techniques and be able to motivate a team of volunteers to achieve effective influence through social media content, engaging wider audiences in policy change and advocacy campaigns.

You’ll have excellent communications skills and have some experience working with different types of media.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

There’s no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Whatever you do here you will be supporting our work to protect and enhance woods and trees. In return, we recognise and value our people. You'll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with contributory pension, life assurance and a good holiday entitlement.
