Job Purpose and background:

CDP is seeking a highly motivated individual to support the core operational and development workstreams in its Technical Reporting team. The successful candidate will help to shape CDP’s forests disclosure requests to companies, gaining understanding of current trends and best practice in corporate forest stewardship with a particular focus on how palm oil and timber commodities are driving deforestation. The role requires the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, particularly with CDP’s forests, supply chain and scoring teams, in a fast-paced, varied environment, to analyze complex data and to think critically and innovatively.

The role is based in CDP’s London office and reports directly to the Technical Manager for forests in the Reporting team. The role will be a fixed term contract of 12 months with the potential to extend based on future funding.

About CDP’s Technical reporting team:

The Technical Reporting team provides a critical contribution to CDP’s mission. We develop CDP’s world leading questionnaires and guidance for organizations reporting environmental information to investors and customers. The reporting team ensures that the questionnaires push companies beyond business as usual, catalysing change of their environmental performance. We aim to balance completeness, transparency and quality of data disclosed with the practicality and resources required by companies to collect and report on this data within their own operations and throughout their value chain.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Project managing the development of CDP forests questionnaire and guidance with a focus on palm oil and timber commodities, across lifecycle to successful delivery, including:
  • Supporting the Technical Manager, Forests in a diverse range of tasks related to the normal disclosure cycle, such as:
  • Inputting questionnaires into the CDP’s Online Response System (ORS) and Guidance Content Management System (GCMS)
  • Conducting rigorous IT testing and content review of the material in the ORS and GCMS
  • Support other questionnaire and guidance development workstreams
  • Responding to internal queries (ITQAs) on the forests questionnaire and guidance
  • Writing and proofreading technical documents

The precise description and nature of your job may be varied from time to time and you may be required to carry out other duties as necessary to meet business needs

Required skills and experience:

  • 3-5 years of academic and/or professional experience working on deforestation/forest degradation issues, in particular, with experience on palm and timber commodities in Southeast Asia and Europe
  • Demonstrable experience on how these issues affect businesses and supply chains
  • Understanding of frameworks/initiatives in the forests arena related to palm oil and timber is desirable
  • Experience working for NGOs is an advantageous
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; detail-oriented and organized thinker who can juggle multiple, competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and an excellent standard of written English
  • An ability to quickly process complex qualitative and quantitative data, and demonstrable IT experience, including proficiency in Power Point and Excel and experience with databases and CRM
  • Diligent, flexible, and friendly working style with a proven record of working within a team to deliver projects successfully
  • Familiarity with CDP’s forests program is desirable
