Bats are amazing animals, and an important part of our natural environment. The Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) is proud to be the leading non-governmental organisation devoted solely to the conservation of bats and their habitats. Our mission is to secure the future of bats in a changing world. BCT works on a number of levels to create a better world for bats and runs a range of different projects and initiatives.

BCT operates a National Bat Helpline to provide the general public, owners of buildings containing a bat roost, and professionals with easily accessible and accurate information. Myths and misunderstandings about bats together with intolerance and fear have always been obstacles to their conservation, and by informing and supporting people who come into contact with bats BCT works towards its vision of a world where bats and people live in harmony. Last year the National Bat Helpline dealt with 14,980 enquiries. The contract for managing statutory casework for Natural England, which BCT has held since 2004 (and for the whole of England since 2013), is in the process of being reviewed and the future legislative framework for bat conservation is uncertain as we go through Brexit. So we are in a period of change for the only National Helpline dedicated to bat conservation.

BCT is now looking for two new Helpline Managers, able to lead and manage the helpline team, manage service provision, provide robust technical advice, and manage relationships with funders as well as help to secure the future of the service. These roles are full-time and the responsibilities are joint, however, it is important to note that individual managers may take a lead in specific areas depending on their skills and strengths.

The recruitment of these posts is subject to funding.
