The Role

Are you an experienced Sustainability Manager, with a passion for leading behaviour change in large organisations? Are you looking for your next challenge, where you would be given the autonomy and support to help world renowned companies become recycling and sustainability leaders? If that’s a yes, then we want to hear from you!

An ethical, fast-growing recycling and resource management company with a team of exceptional people, Paper Round are looking for an experienced engagement professional. Join us, during an exciting period of change and growth, helping to keep our passion for the environment at the heart of what we do.

The first few months of a client contract are critical in establishing a meaningful step-change in the way waste and resources are managed. As the Client Sustainability Manager, you will be responsible for driving the required changes in behaviour within our largest customers; helping them to establish a best practice approach to waste.

You’ll develop a rigorous methodology which helps identify barriers to success, and how these can be overcome. The role will see you dealing with issues faced by every member of an organisation from office workers and chefs, to cleaners and board directors; you need to be great at communicating effectively with a variety of stakeholders, all with their own unique needs and interests. Are you up for the challenge?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design a methodology, based on sound best-practice theory, for driving behaviour change to achieve best-practice recycling.
  • Work closely with clients to agree on realistic targets for recycling and contamination levels and produce and implement plans to achieve this.
  • Create and execute project plans based on your methodology and agreed client recycling and contamination targets.
  • Provide advice and support to our account managers, empowering them to advise on sustainability within the work place.
  • Be the face of sustainability at Paper Round, presenting in tenders and attending and speaking at industry events.

The Person

As a Client Sustainability Manager you will have;

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to adapt your approach and style to appeal to a range of people.
  • Proven experience of changing behaviour in the work place.
  • Degree and/or post graduate degree in a sustainability related field or equivalent qualification by experience.
  • Ability to be highly autonomous and self-motivated with a genuine zest for taking ownership of projects from start to finish.
  • A passion for the environment and ability to use and convey this passion to drive behaviour change to get buy-in from others.
  • The ability to look for solutions, not problems, and to use this outlook to achieve a great team spirit, with a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Good and sound knowledge of Microsoft suite, with advanced knowledge of excel being a bonus.

The Company

Paper Round started life in 1988 as a small Friends of the Earth project. The Group provides total waste management, office supplies, secure data destruction, and food recycling to businesses and the public sector. From our closed-loop recycling solutions, to charity donations; our ethical stance isn't just lip service, it’s an integral part of who we are and what we do! Benefits:

  • Flexible working, charity volunteering opportunities, monthly massages and social activities
  • Office has panoramic views across the capital
  • Employee pension scheme and a travel season ticket loan
  • Dedicated individual training budget
  • 25 days’ annual leave + BH
