We are expanding our property division and are seeking a motivated individual to join our Property Development Team working primarily on residential developments.

Candidates must be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) with a background in residential developments. This position is for an experienced Planner who is an excellent communicator with solid report writing skills and exceptional presentation skills. A full and valid driving license is required for this role.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record in land and planning ideally gained with a Residential Developer or a private House Builder. You will be required to lead on the negotiation of discharge of conditions and reserve matters; conduct site visits; assist with the preparation of planning policy documents and if required, appear as expert witness for planning appeals and inquiries.

The Role:

  • Fulfilling a key position in the Property Development Team, you will liaise and coordinate with colleagues and Directors, external consultants and architects in connection with the planning process;
  • Produce Design and Access Statements and Planning Statements;
  • Assess planning applications and monitoring outcomes as necessary;
  • Prepare and implement planning applications, progress s106 agreements and liaise with Local Authorities;
  • Keeping up to date with legislation associated with land use;
  • Provide a strategic overview on new and existing land and property acquisitions in order to give informed advice as to how to maximise opportunity from them;
  • Involvement in the development process from site identification on future sites through to legal completion;
  • Use excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills to apply policies and rules, and to share your ideas with people, which will also include organising meetings to listen to ideas and hear concerns about planning proposals from local communities;

Skills and Experience:

  • RTPI qualified and a member of the RTPI;
  • Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience as a Town Planner;
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of the UK residential planning and development process and planning regulations;
  • Experienced user of information technology systems such as CAD and GIS to produce plans/drawings;
