Down to the Coast : Wildbeach Project Officer

Circa £21k pa (pro-rata), depending on qualifications and experience

Fixed term contract to December 2019

Part-time 21 hours per week

Post proposed to be based at Branstone Farm, Sandown, Isle of Wight

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, as a key partner of the Down to the Coast Partnership, have secured funding from Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for a part-time Wildbeach Project Officer based and operating in the East Wight.

The Wildbeach Project Officer will help connect children and their families to their local environment by offering an exciting range of activities on coastal habitats to local schools, educational groups, local residents and visitors in the East Wight. The post will follow the Forest School ethos to design and offer sessions where children are given opportunities to explore, discover, play, create, use tools, use campfires and learn – with coastal habitats and species as the chief resource. The Officer will also be responsible for recruiting, enthusing, inspiring and training volunteers to assist with the sessions.

We are seeking an experienced and confident Project Officer, who is ideally Forest School Level 3 trained or has demonstrable Forest School experience. A knowledge and understanding of the marine environment will be an advantage. You will also need to be confident in running educationally-focused sessions in a dynamic coastal environment. Experience in recruiting, mentoring, training and supervising volunteers is also essential. Plus experience in project reporting, financial management, monitoring and reporting.

Closing date: 5pm Monday 28th May 2018

Interviews: Tuesday 5th June 2018
