As statutory advisor on nature conservation to the UK Government and the Devolved Administrations, JNCC are looking for a full time Support Officer based in Peterborough. This is a fixed-term appointment for 2 years.

The post holder is expected to provide scientific and technical support and advice to the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Team (BEST). This is an exciting post working on mainstreaming nature conservation issues through natural capital approaches in the UK and internationally.

The BES Team has responsibility for advising on natural capital and ecosystem services, environmental economics and managing major thematic work related to these areas (such as sustainable livelihoods, blue-green infrastructure and business and biodiversity partnerships. The primary role will be to work with BEST and other JNCC teams to support JNCC’s natural capital work, BiodivERsA, IPBES, and other relevant issues. The post holder will be expected to maintain close working relationships with the appropriate teams in JNCC, Defra, country conservation agencies, other government departments, and external stakeholders.

The post-holder will be required to attend meetings and other fora at various localities internationally and in the UK, involving overnight stays away from home.
