OVERVIEW

Earthwatch is looking to recruit a Programme Manager to support our work with corporate partners, supporting a range of innovative programmes. The role is offered on a one year fixed term contract with a possibility that it may be extended. We work with companies who want to improve their impact on the environment and take the action necessary for a sustainable planet. We help businesses nurture sustainability leaders, build resilience and connect with the natural world to make a meaningful contribution to vital environmental and social issues.

The ideal candidate is an excellent relationship manager, able to understand the needs of different stakeholders and with a keen focus on ensuring delivery of activities to a high standard. You have experience of managing and developing effective teams to deliver results, demonstrating collaborative working across different teams, regions and functions. You are able to set and communicate priorities effectively and deliver programme objectives to time and budget. Experience of leading or supporting corporate teams in the field would be beneficial.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Role purpose:

To manage corporate partner relationships and work with the wider Earthwatch team to deliver projects to time, budget and required mission standard.

Key deliverables:

• Manage the delivery of partnerships and programmes as required
• Manage all activities for assigned programmes and ensure that the team(s) have the right skills and resources to deliver
• Manage internal and external relationships (e.g. funders/delivery partners) relating to programmes
• Ensure that all programme delivery aligns with Earthwatch organisational mission and business plans
• Ensure that all programme delivery complies with Earthwatch global standards and protocols
• Monitoring of programme outcomes and impact, and completion of reports according to agreed timeline
• Manage the programme budgets in line with Earthwatch financial processes
• Manage Coordinators, setting clear objectives relating to their role and individual needs in the delivery of their assigned programmes
• Identify and support the development of new opportunities for Earthwatch arising through strong programme delivery. This could include writing proposals, building budgets, attending meetings with new prospects and liaising with colleagues to reach new opportunitiesSupporting other organisational priorities as required

REQUIREMENTS

Person specification:

• Relevant degree, or equivalent professional experience working in an environmental science/education, conservation, natural resources or business sustainability context
• Proven track record in managing projects and programmes, including budget management. Project management qualification highly desirable.
• Up-to-date understanding of key global conservation issues and agendas
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop and manage productive relationships with colleagues, including working with virtual teams across regions
• Excellent relationship management skills and track record of effective partnership management, delivering a consistent high level of customer care and responsiveness
• Ability to manage and develop a team, ideally with previous line management experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Highly computer literate, in particular in MS Office packages
• Flexible, self-motivated and goal-oriented
• Proven ability to manage competing requirements, delegate appropriately, deliver on time, and move projects forward effectively
• Personal enthusiasm for engaging people and organsations to build the knowledge and action required to address key environmental issues
• Commitment to the mission and values of Earthwatch

Other requirements:

• The role is office-based but some UK and international travel may be required
• The post holder will work normal office hours but there may be occasions where flexibility is required e.g. to meet deadlines or for travel
• French language skills highly desirable
