Assistant Manager – Offshore Transmission

Glasgow: £22,100 - £25,595

London, Canary Wharf: £24,300 - £28,150

Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

The Networks Division plays a key role in ensuring that appropriate regulatory arrangements are in place to facilitate the timely move to a low carbon energy sector whilst continuing to provide safe, secure, high quality network services and value for money to existing and future consumers. As a key member of the Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO) team, you will contribute to the successful monitoring of offshore transmission licensees. Offshore wind is an integral part of the UK’s energy supply and with an expected 30% of electricity expected to be from renewable sources by 2020, this is a crucially important aspect of Ofgem’s work. We are looking for a proactive individual who can adapt successfully to an evolving and dynamic environment, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and high performance. You will take ownership of essential aspects of the OFTO monitoring process and the certification process, providing a vital link across various stakeholders in areas such as such as Legal, IT, Policy and Finance.

The role offers an exciting opportunity to bring your strengths in working with and interpreting complex information into a sector and to develop your expertise in complex regulation work. It demands a broad range of skills. You must have proven capability in data analysis, and confidence working with Excel. Your interpretation, numerical and analytical skills will be second-to-none; you’ll also be able to demonstrate a talent for verbal and written communication, supported by the ability to produce effective written summaries. An assured and well-organised self-starter, you’ll be happy working independently on bespoke projects but equally at home in a team environment.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

  • Up to 30 days’ annual leave
  • Excellent training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
  • Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
  • Subsidised gym and restaurant (London only)
  • Interest free season ticket loan.
