Head of Conservation

Permanent full time position or 30 hours per week

Location: Penrith, Cumbria

Salary: £33,000 – £35,000 pa pro rata

If you are seeking a challenging conservation leadership role in a superb location this post could be ideal for you.

Eden Rivers Trust is looking for a knowledgeable and experienced senior conservationist with a strong background in river catchment management to lead our conservation team.

Eden, along with the rest of Cumbria, has long been at the centre of innovative river restoration and water friendly farming initiatives, and since the floods of 2013-15 it has also been a target UK region for developing natural solutions to flood management. These complex overlapping agendas provide many opportunities to deliver sustainable catchment management on a large scale, and Eden Rivers Trust seeks a dynamic individual to help us do just that.

You will have experience of developing and managing large multi-partner conservation projects, controlling complex budgets, reporting to donors and line managing of multiple members of staff. You will have confidence and credibility, and be able to perform internally as a member of the senior management team as well as externally engaging and influencing a variety of stakeholders.

Based in Penrith, you will work in the scenic rolling countryside of the Eden Valley, with the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Pennines also on the doorstep.

It’s a great time to join our small, dedicated team as we embark on an exciting stage in our development. As part of the new senior management team, you’ll have the chance to help shape our future, delivering innovative projects that matter; improving and protecting the Eden for people and wildlife.
