EnviroComms are a specialist behaviour change communications firm working exclusively in the waste and recycling sector. Working with local authorities, we engage with people to encourage them to recycle more, waste less and adopt many other improved actions in how they deal with their rubbish.

We’re currently delivering two separate projects for two local authorities: Cheshire West and Chester Council and Halton Borough Council and are looking to recruit a team of local people to work on these projects.

Cheshire West and Chester Council

The council are undergoing an overhaul of their Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRCs) including the opening of a new site in Chester. These changes include new opening times and new rules of usage and our project is supporting these developments through engagement with site users to ensure they are aware of the changes.

Halton Borough Council

The Council are currently piloting a food waste recycling collection service in advance of a full service roll-out. Our work here is measure participation in this pilot, encourage residents to use the service and research resident’s views towards the service.

We are looking to recruit a team of local people to work on both these projects. Duties will include:

  • Meeting and speaking with users of the HWRCs to convey changes to opening hours and rules of usage
  • Meeting with tradespeople at retail sites across Chester to inform them of the changes
  • Monitoring of participation in the food waste service (bin counting)
  • Doorstep engagement with residents to encourage use of the food waste service and record feedback
  • Delivery of food waste containers and bin liners

Both projects will run during May and June 2018 with the days applied to each, variable. Extensions to both is possible.

We welcome applications from all but this work will be of particular benefit to students studying Environmental Courses or those who wish to pursue careers in the environmental, waste and resource recovery sector. We have supported many of our past Advisors on developing their careers in this sector through additional work placements both in the UK and overseas as well as supporting further education opportunities.
