I&G Ecological Consulting Ltd are based in Carmarthenshire, with clients across Wales. As a result of our increasing number of projects and a rapidly filling "jobs book" we seek a dynamic seasonal ecologist to join the team. The new position is aimed at a flexible self-motivated individual with at least two years relevant professional experience. You will have the opportunity of working on a variety of exciting projects in the residential, commercial, renewable and industrial / agricultural sectors.

The main responsibility of the position is to deliver projects from start to finish, managing sub-consultants and supporting staff.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • An experienced ecological surveyor (Phase 1) and a good field scientist.
  • Welsh Bat Licence with previous experience of EPS licence supervision.
  • CIEEM or equivalent membership.    
  • A degree in a relevant scientific subject or a closely related field.
  • Surveying and work experience in the UK regulatory framework including protected species licensing and knowledge of appropriate legislation.
  • Experienced in running small projects.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports to recognised standards and critically review own work.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills.
  • Current and full driving license.
  • Own vehicle (insured for business use) and mobile phone.        
  • Must be physically fit, willing and able to work in all weather conditions

Desirable:

  • CEnv / CEcol.
  • Postgraduate degree.
  • Other protected species licence(s).
  • An ecological specialism.
  • GIS skills.
  • Working knowledge of the Habitats Directive 1992 (as amended).
  • ECoW experience.
  • Experience of Bat call analysis and associated software.
  • Welsh speaker

We are looking for the successful candidate to start in  April. Employment will be guaranteed until September/October but may be extended in accordance with the needs of the business. Please clearly state in your application when you are available to start.

Salary will be based on qualifications and experience and will range between £18,000 - £20,000 pro rata (up to £1,900 payable per month for the candidate that meets our requirements).
