Salary package: £21,962 - £24,174 Grade E

We are looking for someone with experience of working within a waste/recycling and street cleansing environment to help us manage Gloucester’s contract with its Streetcare Partner. Do you like a challenge; are you interested in environmental issues and making Gloucester a greener city?

The post holder will actively engage with Amey our Streetcare service provider as well internal stakeholders to help manage a £5.5 million a year contract dealing with Waste and Recycling, Street Cleansing and Grounds Maintenance.

The post holder will be responsible for the coordination; implementation and completion of a range of community based and internal projects which the Council wishes to pursue. Focussed on reducing waste, increasing recycling and improving the cleanliness of Gloucester’s streets, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate they can provide project management support to environmental services across large scale projects, have excellent customer service skills, be innovative with marketing and communications and have the ability to develop relationships with Members, residents, community groups, partners and external stakeholders.

The post holder will work within the City Improvement and Environment service alongside a diverse team of professionals, including tree officers, countryside managers, waste/recycling managers and more general city improvement officers. The post itself will be based at the Amey depot on Eastern Avenue and will be part of a team of 4 City Council employees.

The applicant will be focussed on increasing recycling and reducing waste, ideally have some experience of contract management and be familiar with local government working practices. A qualification in an environmental, waste management or other related discipline would be helpful but not essential.
