About Biocensus.

Biocensus has a growing in-house team, based in beautiful offices in Bath and Stroud. Our business model is based on utilising the skills of a network of over 500 expert ecologists around the country, to provide high quality surveys and advice, managed and quality assured by experienced in-house people. We believe this has great benefits: our ecology fieldwork is carried out by experienced people, who live near the sites so we minimise our carbon footprint whilst maximising local knowledge, and our outputs are overseen by amongst the most experienced people in the industry.

We work on a wide range of projects, from the very small – perhaps ecology advice for a single dwelling development – to the largest, such as High Speed 2 and other large infrastructure projects.

Our flexible model of in-house rigour and pragmatism, and our extensive, quality-assured network of experts allow us to respond rapidly to the needs of our clients, whatever their requirements. Recent rapid growth in both our smaller-scale, technical advisory work, and the deployment of large teams of ecologists on the country’s largest infrastructure projects, mean that we now need to expand our in-house team.

We want the brightest and best people in the sector to come and join us, to help us manage the many challenges associated with our growing business. We are currently recruiting two senior ecologists, but are always interested in hearing from talented individuals who are interested in joining our team. We strongly believe in the principles of supporting and developing our staff, and we strive to give every opportunity for career progression in-house, and in terms of CPD training.

We are also strong believers in the application of sound scientific and ecological principles in the work that we do. The Chair of our Board, Dr. Stephanie Wray is the President of CIEEM, and our Managing Director, Dr Tim Hounsome, is on CIEEM’s Advisory Board.
