What you'll be doing

The Wicken Fen Vision is the National Trust's 100 year plan to create a landscape for people and wildlife to enjoy between Wicken and Cambridge, an area covering 53 square kilometres. As our Marketing & Communications Officer, you'll engage and involve the local community in this vision through inspiring communication activities and digital content. You'll work as part of the team to make sure that we're sharing the best stories we can. Spreading the word about Wicken Fen, and raising awareness of our conservation work.

Day to day, you’ll manage and help develop our annual marketing and communications plan to help achieve our ambitious targets, helping us to reach out to new audiences and engage the local community. This will include defining communication activities and creating promotional materials and updates (across all media platforms, including social media), writing and distributing press releases and newsletters, and representing us on broadcast media when you need to.

Please be advised that in this role you'll be part of our Duty Manager rota.

Who we're looking for

To deliver this role successfully, you will need to have;

  • A good understanding of marketing techniques, including websites as well as digital and social media
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent digital and social media skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Advanced IT Skills (including Microsoft Office)
  • Problem solving skills, and ability to work on own initiative
