It’s about engaging people with nature. Helping teachers take their lessons out of the classroom and into the garden to grow fruit and veg with children.

Trees for Cities is an ambitious, far-reaching organisation.

Trees for Cities is the only charity working on a global scale focussed on planting urban trees and greening cities. Edible Playgrounds transform areas in school grounds into vibrant outdoor spaces that excite and teach children about growing and eating healthy food.

Our Edible Playgrounds programme is expanding this year and our team is growing. You will lead the project management of our edible playgrounds working across a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the projects are designed and built to plan. You will also lead a team of three coordinators who support the schools to ensure they have the skills, plans and confidence to use their edible playgrounds as part of their teaching and make sure they can maintain them after our support has finished. You will work with schools in London and possibly other UK cities.

What we want

  • Someone with a talent for working with schools or similar groups to inspire and support them to create and maintain amazing, productive and educational food growing spaces
  • Excellent programme management skills and attention to detail
  • Someone passionate about growing and eating fruit and vegetables
  • A strong team member with the ability to communicate effectively within the team, across the charity and with schools and stakeholders.
  • Please note the role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

What you will get

  • To work on our prestigious Edible Playground programme
  • Salary £28k
  • 29 days annual leave
  • 5% contribution to pension scheme
  • A great training package to support personal development and Health and Safety training
